Russian Festival – Oh Dear…
Well the media didn’t say much about Sunday’s Russian Festival in Trafalgar Square – I didn’t even see a picture of Boris looking stupid in a furry hat.
Presumably the extravaganza was arranged well before the Ukrainian situation, in tribute to Russia’s hosting of the Winter Olympics. Sadly, it left a taste in the mouth in those of us who couldn’t get the invasion of their neighbour out of our minds.
There was a sound stage set up, though the sounds of balalaikas would almost have been drowned out by the “Putin Out!” demonstrators making their way to the Russian Embassy in Bayswater.
Here, the Ukrainian flag-waving hordes joined up with the Syrians, who had been manning the barricades for months. Who says Christians and Muslims can’t get on?
